The opening ceremony of the “2020 Guangdong & Macao Branded Products Fair” (2020GMBPF) was held at 10:00 am today (11 December) at Expo Hall A of The Venetian Macao. Guests attending the ceremony include Secretary for Economy and Finance of the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region Lei Wai Nong, Indonesian Ambassador to China Djauhari Oratmangun, and Director of the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province Zhang Jinsong.
Jointly organised by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province, this year’s three-day Fair features trade, cultural exchange, shopping, leisure and entertainment, providing an exchange and co-operation platform for traders and a leisure place for local residents and tourists. Covering an area of 9,000 square metres, with almost 400 booths, it has attracted nearly 340 exhibitors. Exhibition areas available include the “Macao Featured Products Exhibition Zone”, the “Guangdong Branded Products Exhibition Zone”, “The Belt and Road Exhibition Zone”, “The Power of Youth-Young Entrepreneurs Exhibition Zone” and the “Guangdong State-owned Enterprise Exhibition Zone”.
Adding live broadcasts and visits to assist exhibitors in promotion
This year’s Fair offers a “Guangdong-Macao Cuisine Channel Exhibition Area” where visitors can have a taste of Portuguese, Cantonese, Thai and Indonesian cuisines. Influencers have been invited to live-stream and live broadcast their visits to exhibition booths, during which they select for viewers those must-buy, must-eat, must-play and must-see branded products and wonderful programmes and promote for traders their products globally through the platform of the 2020GMBPF. The “Forum on Technological Innovation Co-operation and Coordinated Industrial Development in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area” was staged on the morning of the first day of the event to help enterprises seize the opportunity of integrating into the development of the Greater Bay Area. Also on the morning of the first day, representatives of catering enterprises in Guangdong Province and of catering enterprises/associations in Macao were offered the 2020GMBPF Guided Tour, to enrich their knowledge of exhibitors and their products, and increase the opportunities for co-operation between the two parties through interactions, negotiations and co-operation. In addition, a giant wall decorated with fruits and the “Guangdong-Macao Super Monopoly”, which covers an area of 72 square metres, are available this year for visitors to take photos with and “check in”. The Grand Stage offers a series of singing and dancing performances, as well as lucky draws, interactive games and commodity promotion sessions.
In order to encourage the public to use public and green transportation, the 2020GMBPF provides free shuttle buses to pick up visitors. Free parking areas will be offered at Expo Hall D on a first-come-first-served basis due to limited availability.
