Tou Jie Dao: Master Trading with Innovative Games

Tou Jie Dao Cultural and Creative Company Limited was established in 2018. Director Hong Tianbin, driven by a passion for modern financial education, innovatively designed a trading board game aimed at helping aspiring beginners to understand financial trading. The game allows players to learn investment philosophy at a low cost.

01 Innovative Trading Board Game
Hong Tianbin, who began investing at the age of 18 and majored in finance in university, has dedicated himself to the field of financial education after graduation. He has served as a columnist for Macao Daily, actively promoting correct concepts of investment and financial management. Feeling that traditional teaching methods were much less relatable to trading with money in real life, he was inspired to conceive the framework for a board game at the end of 2020, successfully launching it in 2023 as an innovative attempt in investment education.
The Tou Jie Dao trading board game was developed over three years, distinguishing itself from traditional Monopoly by incorporating easy-to-learn elements from the Five Elements theory. Players must combine the character skills of “Human” cards, the macro variables of “Cosmos” cards (the sixty-four hexagrams of the I Ching), and the characteristics of “Earth” cards (Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, Earth) to make predictions. Players take turns trading over twelve rounds, with the richest player declared the winner.



02 Online and Offline Strategies
Currently, the product primarily uses online sales channels and is available on Macao's electronic payment tool, MPay. The company emphasises that its product focuses on financial education, having promoted and tested it in several local educational institutions. Future plans include developing an online mini-programme to further expand the market.


03 Looking to the Greater Bay Area Market

Last year, the company entered the IPIM's Macao Ideas. By participating in IPIM’s business matching events, Hong Tianbin engaged in discussions with mainland publishers and traders. He discovered that the concepts incorporated into the game were well-received by mainland clients. He believes that the product's characteristics resonate with the culture of neighboring regions and looks forward to expanding into the Greater Bay Area market, envisioning a broader blueprint for development.
