Treasury income has been greatly reduced. Will funding for local exhibition projects and organizing entrepreneurs to participate in overseas exhibition activities decrease? Liu Weiming, chairman of the Administration Committee of the International Trade Promotion Council, suggested that the industry actively seek change, think about marketization, and not confine itself to “formal” exhibition projects. The authorities will "make good use of public money" to make the cake bigger, and join hands with the industry to bid for projects and seek cooperation to find a way out after the epidemic.

Advocate the introduction of different types of activities

Liu Weiming said that the iconic exhibition projects in 2011, including three exhibitions (MIF, MFE, PLPEX), environmental protection exhibitions, and infrastructure forums will continue to be held; at the same time, the SAR government will promote the direction of economic diversification, such as traditional Chinese medicine and modern finance. Introduce related conference and exhibition projects in fields such as, science and technology industry, and promote the diversification and specialization of the industry. In addition, encourage the industry to introduce events of different scales and types such as corporate annual meetings, fan clubs, fan clubs, etc., to further stimulate the atmosphere of convention and exhibition activities, which in turn will promote different industries, and assist more small and medium-sized convention and exhibition organizing service companies to benefit and promote conventions and exhibitions. The industry continues to develop.

The IPIM hopes to “turn good ground” for the industry, so that it has a better soil and platform for development. The goal is to benefit the industry as a whole and not a single enterprise. It is like doing business. Failure to meet market demand will only be eliminated. "Spend public money tightly and be accountable to taxpayers" and should not encourage projects that are eliminated by the market. It is recommended that the industry think about how to change models, such as publicity and production models, and create conditions to continue to survive and move towards marketization.

    Think about marketization

Regarding the issue of industry funding, he emphasized that the authorities will use the principle of "making good use of public funds", and will weigh the nature, scale, and theme of the event to adjust support for such factors as the nature, scale, and theme of the event. It will measure the gradual adjustment of the project at different stages of development. The amount of funding, hoping to optimize the allocation of resources and improve market efficiency. He believes that the direction of funding is not considered a major adjustment, mainly because it does not hope that there will only be fixed exhibition projects in the market. Brand projects for many years should establish their own foundation and market reputation, frankly "I can't do anything if I am tight." Exhibition projects should not be limited to "doing form". First, the authorities will not be biased against any enterprise, and second, they will continue to optimize the overall environment and "make the cake bigger."

In the future, the Council for the Promotion of International Trade will further enrich the training channels for exhibition talents and jointly improve the professional level of the industry. In the future, if conditions permit, we will take the initiative to fight for opportunities, and "as long as it is safe to go out" will arrange for delegations to actively bid for projects. Macau has a good foundation for the convention and exhibition industry, and does not mind competition or seek opportunities for cooperation. The short-term goal is to go to the mainland to discuss the possibility of cooperation in the post-epidemic era with the industry. They can jointly bid for projects and create a win-win situation. The authorities will have clear strategies and deployments.

This year, the number of overseas visits organized by the IPIM will increase compared with last year, but the data will depend on the development of the epidemic.
