Loving Macau: From Macao, For Macao
Loving Macau was founded by Josephine Lam and Miguel Miranda in 2015. Upholding the original aspiration of showcasing Macao to the world, they have adopted Macao’s unique cultural icons and simple street culture to create souvenir products, which are loved by tourists and overseas consumers.
Unique angle to promote Macao Tourism
The establishment of the brand is inseparable from Josephine Lam and Miguel Miranda’s attachment to their hometown, Macao. The two founders who love travelling found that apart from baking souvenirs, it was difficult to find desirable and handy souvenirs in Macao to give to their foreign friends. This inspired them to establish Loving Macau, with the expectation of promoting Macao to the world through souvenirs that showcase local characteristics.

The company’s products include T-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, reusable bags, badges, stickers, air freshener tags and key rings to name a few. In addition to Macao’s common elements such as the Ruins of St. Paul’s and A-Ma Temple, the company has torn up the rulebook to explore more local elements that are not familiar to tourists, and has incorporated a simple street style into the design, so that the products are suitable as both tourist souvenirs and everyday items. For example, images of mountains and butterflies were added to the text of “COLOANE” on a reusable bag, thus presenting the scenery of Coloane, where birds sing, flowers bloom, and mountain paths wind through the landscape. Except for the usual floral and herbal scents, the air freshener tags also feature distinctive scents, such as egg tart and bubble tea scents.

The company’s badges are particularly popular with international customers. According to Miguel, many customers from around the world buy the badges on the website, and some of them even collect the badges even if they have never visited Macao. The patterns of the badges are diverse, featuring not only iconic Portuguese elements like the Barcelos Rooster, sardine tins, and the word “OLÁ”, but also nostalgic symbols such as the minibus, lemon tea, Vitasoy, and red bean ice, which resonate with the memories of Macao residents.

Loving Macau participated in the Macao International Trade and Investment Fair (MIF) in its early years and received significant orders due to its popularity among trade visitors. Through the platform of IPIM’s “Macao Ideas”, the co-founders hope that their products can be seen by more customers from different parts of the world.
