[2021/01/29] Report: Macao's Sales of Exhibition Area May Recover 60%

According to the "16th Asian Trade Fair Research Report", many mature exhibition markets in the Asia-Pacific region recorded steady growth in 2019. Among them, Macao increased by 4.2%, ranking among the top ten in the Asia-Pacific region. The report pointed out that Macao has done a good job in responding to Covid-19 epidemic, and it is expected that Macao’s net sales of exhibition area may be restored to 60% or more in 2019.


Liu Weiming, Chairman of the Administration Committee of the IPIM, estimated that several major forums and exhibitions could continue to be held this year. For example, the Macau International Environmental Cooperation and Development Forum and Exhibition (MIECF) was suspended last year due to the epidemic. After the communication, the preparatory work for this year is carrying out, and strive to re-host this year. The three exhibitions of MIF, PLPEX and MFE will continue to be held in the same period. As for the date of the International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Summit Forum, it is still under discussion, but it's believing it can continue to be held as scheduled.


The number of employees in the convention and exhibition industry in Macao has increased from 200 in 2001 to more than 3,000 today. IPIM plans to increase training for the industry in the future in order to  understand the new trends and new directions of the international exhibition market, and to better equip themselves to meet challenges. At the same time, to popularize online exhibition hall information to exhibition merchants so that the online platform can be fully utilized in the future, function facilitates more negotiation and cooperation.
