The Opening Ceremony of the “25th Macao International Trade and Investment Fair” (25th MIF), the “Macao Franchise Expo 2020” (2020MFE) and the “2020 Portuguese Speaking Countries Products and Services Exhibition (Macao)” (2020PLPEX) was unveiled at 10:30 this morning (22 Oct) at the Expo Hall B (Macao Pavilion) of The Venetian Macao. Guests of the Opening Ceremony included Mr Ho Iat Seng, Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region.
The 25th MIF, 2020MFE and 2020PLPEX are held concurrently at the same venue for three consecutive days, attracting over 1,000 companies from Mainland China, Portugal, Brazil, Japan, Canada, Germany, Hong Kong and Macao, to the online expo and physical exhibitions. The exhibitions cover project investment, modern financial services, science and technology innovation projects, food and dining services, cultural and creative industries, Portuguese-speaking countries’ specialty products, professional consulting services and franchise industries.
Diverse Online and Offline Content
The exhibitions offer diverse online and offline content. The online services include cloud matching, online contract signing, the online expo and live streaming. As for offline services, the 25th MIF offers trade and investment-themed pavilions for Chinese provinces and cities, countries along the Belt and Road and Portuguese-speaking countries, as well as themed exhibition areas and exhibition and sales zones including the “Innotech and Startups Zone” and “Youth Entrepreneurship Zone”, “Macao SME Pavilion”. The 2020MFE presents the “Franchise Zone”, “One-Stop Support Centre for Enterprises”, “Macau Original I.P. Pavilion”, “Gourmet Avenue”, and others. At the 2020PLPEX, the “Portuguese-Speaking Countries’ Specialty Products Zone”, “Commercial and Trade Services for the Co-operation Platform between China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries Exhibition Area”, “Vamos Desfrutar” Exhibition Area, and “Experience Zone” are set up.
On the first day of the event, a protocol signing ceremony and a number of interaction and exchange activities were held, including the “Fujian, Macao and Portuguese-Speaking Countries Economic Exchange Networking Session” organised by the Department of Commerce of Fujian Province and the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), the “Business Opportunities in PSCs Series: Brazilian Propolis Promotion Seminar”, the “Portuguese-speaking Countries Wine and Food Business Matching Seminar”. The “Macao Fashion Festival 2020” performance and PSC Fashion Shows were also staged to perk up the ambiance. Moreover, guided shopping tours to local neighbourhoods for the participating traders will be organised in the evening, promoting local original brands to them to benefit local SMEs and boost community economies.
Tomorrow the exhibitions will continue and offer the “International Trade and Investment Forum and Forum on Chain and Franchise Business Opportunities of International Brands” in 2020, the “17th World Summit of Chinese Entrepreneurs”, the “Seminar on the New Macau Arbitrage Law”, and the “Macao Ideas Products Workshop”.
The three exhibitions are only open to trade visitors today and will be open to the general public tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. To ensure the safety of participants, disinfectant coatings are applied to surfaces at the exhibition venue, temperature screening devices and sterilising equipment are installed, and on-site hygiene guidelines are also offered. Traders who register for a Macao MICE Pass on the website ( https://mice.ipim.gov.mo ) in advance will be granted access to the four major exhibition events (including MIF, MIECF, MFE and PLPEX) organised/coordinated by the IPIM. In addition, to encourage green transport, free shuttle buses travelling between the exhibition venue, the North District, the Central District, Taipa and other areas in the city are available.
