In early spring, an elderly man and a child venture through the snow-clad mountain. With a cane and a bundle, they traverse mountain streams, cross small bridges, and head up the cold mountain. Despite the mountain’s icy and snowy appearance, signs of life emerge with the greenery at mountain peaks and the blooming plum blossoms, creating a vibrant and lively landscape. The old man and the child, journeying through the snow to greet the arrival of spring, symbolize joy, happiness, and the enduring cycle of life. Initially, managing the abundant dots and flakes of “cotton” on the jade material posed significant challenges. Nonetheless, the artwork cleverly incorporates blue cypress to represent mountain peaks and icicles, while green jade is utilized for plum branches and blossoms. Consequently, the “cotton” naturally transforms into delightful snowflakes dancing across the entire mountain range. Thus, the artwork embodies a distinct beauty of jade carving art, which is “exquisite and ingenious”, making it a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
