The fourth Business Conference on Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Development (hereinafter referred to as: “Conference”) concluded on 23 October. The two-day Conference, themed “Integrating the Greater Bay Area for a Connected World”, showcased regional co-operation achievements through a range of activities, including meetings, outcome launches and panel discussions. During the event, more than 70 business-matching sessions were facilitated to support the co-ordinated development of the Greater Bay Area, empowering enterprises to expand into overseas markets, and connecting them with opportunities across global supply chains.
Expanding Market Reach and Co-operation Networks Through Business Matching, Exchanges and Promotion Seminars
The Conference featured a plenary session, four parallel panels, outcome launch, business-matching sessions and investment-environment promotion seminars. Covering key sectors including signature agricultural products, wines, traditional Chinese medicine, intangible cultural heritage products, electronic products and trade between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, it facilitated more than 70 business-matching sessions. Participants generally noted that the face-to-face exchanges and thematic panel discussions gave them more direct insights into industry trends and technological applications, delivering tangible benefits to their companies by helping them expand international market networks and identify potential partners.
A representative of a Guangdong company attending the Conference for the first time praised its effectiveness as a business-matching platform, bringing together the resources of CCPIT, Hong Kong, Macao and Guangdong Province to form a seamless mechanism for cross-border co-operation. She hoped to use the Macao platform to promote the global circulation of the company’s products.
Representatives from Macao business associations who attended the Conference multiple times stated that it could effectively strengthen Macao’s role as a platform connecting China and the Portuguese-speaking and Spanish-speaking countries, support integration with the Hengqin Co-operation Zone, and facilitate joint projects in the Greater Bay Area. They added that the Greater Bay Area could serve as a pilot area to help companies from Portuguese-speaking and Spanish-speaking countries to expand into other parts of China, while supporting Chinese enterprises in their global expansion.
Site Visits and Inspections Foster Collaborative Development
The Conference adopted a combined model of “Conventions + Site Visit + Business Matching”, arranging for 50 business representatives to visit Macao districts and the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Co-operation Zone in Hengqin. The delegation visited the Portuguese-speaking Countries’ Products Exhibition Areas, Historical Centre and logistics projects in Macao, as well as Hengqin Planning Exhibition Hall and supply chain projects. These visits provided participants with first-hand experience of the business environment and distinctive urban characteristics featured by the co-ordinated development of Macao and Hengqin. Business representatives from Guangdong recognised Macao’s strengths as a MICE destination and gained a deeper understanding of Hengqin’s industrial development and investment environment, which provides new directions for their company’s future planning and layout. They said they would actively pay attention to investment opportunities in Macao and Hengqin, expecting to leverage the advantages of Macao platform to expand their businesses.
The Macao SAR Government will take this Conference as an opportunity to further deepen co-operation with cities in the Greater Bay Area and international partners, facilitate the efficient flow of resources and the co-ordinated upgrading of industrial chains, and jointly promote high-quality regional economic development and mutually beneficial partnershipsfor enterprises.
