Among them, Hang Yau Curry – a 27-year-old local business – offers the perfect combination of curry, aroma and spices, which makes it highly popular among tourists. Hang Yau Curry was awarded "My Favorite Street Food" in the "My Favorite Restaurant Election" in 2018, and received recognition from the "Chinese Golden Horse Award" in 2019.

Hang Yau Curry is currently run by the brothers of the family. One of the owners Mr Tai Ka Hao said that it was far from an overnight matter to gain a foothold in the competitive catering industry in Macao. The taste formulation along took them a great deal of time. Looking back to 1993 to present, the family transformed from tailor to cook of curry fish balls in response to the business trend. For many years, the famous secret house-made curry has made a name for itself. Even if one fails to try Hang Yau curry in person, he or she can enjoy the taste from a bottle of special curry paste brought by family members who travelled to Macao.

The brothers have long realised that it is important to present people a unique, tasty curry. But more importantly, it is to inherit their father's kindness and caring characteristics. His father often told them that Hang Yau Curry grew from a small vender of curry fish balls, beef offal and meat balls, to a Macao’s iconic brand in the minds of tourists and local community today. The achievements were not easy to come by, and he told the brothers to always be thankful.
Hang Yau Curry has gradually attracted attention from all walks of life. Over the years, it has also launched different flavors of curry pastes to the market. Founder believes that full devotion can make street food like curry fish balls can also make a name for themselves. Looking ahead, in order to develop the market, Hang Yau Curry often participates in various forms and scales of domestic and foreign exhibition projects and activities hosted and organised by the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM); Hang Yau’s curry products are also demonstrated and promoted at “Macao Ideas”. At the same time, thanks to IPIM for its assistance in expanding the mainland market, Hang Yau Curry is hoping to open branches in various scales in Mainland China, especially the Greater Bay Area cities to supply products to related retail, supermarket and catering service chains. Thanks to the support of IPIM gives to SMEs, despite the recent impact of novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic, Hang Yau Curry is still carrying on plans to extend its brand into the local market supply chain. In the future, Hang Yau Curry will strengthen promotion through various channels such as e-commerce platforms and various economic and trade activities, bringing the brand to wider market.
