Casual shoes and trainers are available in Decom

Decom is a local shoe brand, which provides exclusively foot-checking service to sell perfect-fit insole and shoes on Ferry Street (Rua da Barca). Due to the impact of the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic, Decom actively broadened online marketing to provide insoles and footwear of customised shape to more customers from Macao and Greater Bay Area cities.

Open a path for made-in-Macao force-absorbing shoes

According to the founder of Decom Benny Chang, he used to stand for very long time due to work, which caused his feet vulnerable to injury. At that time, to find a pair of comfortable shoes that also could protect his feet, he went as far as to Japan and Hong Kong to for insoles and tailor-made shoes that fit his own feet. However, each of these products usually cost him over MOP 2,000. In view of this, he was determined to change his career. Learning from years of experience on fashion clothing business of his father’s generation, Benny Chang launched a brand for innovative and functional force-absorbing shoes Decom in 2013, which holds patent on cushioning and force-absorbing insoles in Mainland China. From then on, he has been paving way for made-in-Macao force-absorbing shoes and professional footwear services.

Benny Chang remains adamant in running his own original brand

Decom provides customers with on-site “foot-check” services. Using optical scanning instruments, the shape of customer’s footboard, force-bearing points and pressure points are indicated. Staff will then run professional analysis on the scan reports and explain to the customer about common foot problems for them, helping them to choose the right insoles and shoes for their foot shape. No matter they are leather shoes, sports shoes or leisure shoes, they all have own functions. Currently, Decom’s customers are mainly local users engaged in Macao hotel industry, banking industry, gaming industry and government public departments. It is widely appreciated by the users that they are having no pressure to walk or stand for a long time after wearing force-absorbing shoes. Decom’s three-layer structure sole provides users with sufficient elastic support, which is shock-absorbing, non-slip and durable.

Preparing actively to enter Bay Area market

Benny Chang said, every year Decom is invited to participate in the fashion show and exhibition at the Macao International Trade & Investment Fair (MIF) and has received good feedbacks. His brand was among the first batch of products which were demonstrated at “Macao Ideas” of the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM). It aims to show the general public the feature and uniqueness of their force-absorbing shoes, developing their sales channels. Due to the impact of the epidemic, the company is actively seeking a way out. Decom’s stores in the Mainland use Wechat as distribution tool and community marketing methods like e-commerce platforms or group buying. In Macao, the company is selling products through e-commerce platforms. In the long run, the company will consider opening an online store and providing online payment methods to further develop the brand. At present, apart from a representative office in Guangzhou, the company has also registered a company in Hengqin, Zhuhai, getting ready to integrate into the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area market in the near future.
